INCOIS HYDERABAD RECRUITMENT

INCOIS, a knowledge and information technology enterprise for the oceanic realm is pursuing focused programmes in the areas of Ocean Observations, Ocean Modeling and Ocean Information & Advisory services including Tsunami Early Warning. INCOIS is currently offering the following opportunities to bright, dynamic and motivated persons to contribute to its missions and projects on contract basis purely on temporary. The tenure would be initially for a period of two years and extendable based on project need and performance basis. Details about the positions, pay, academic qualifications, responsibilities, format of application and other general conditions are given below:

01 Project Scientist –B 03 Essential Qualification:
A First Class M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Marine Biology, Fisheries, Physical / Biological Oceanography, Physics, Remote Sensing, Spatial Information Technology, Geo-informatics from a recognized university / institute.

Desirable :
Working knowledge in fisheries, primary productivity, satellite data processing, ocean colour applications, satellite oceanography, image processing softwares & programming languages (like Erdas, Arc GIS, programming skills in Java, .NET, Arc Objects, etc.)

Responsibilities :
• To work in the Marine Fishery Advisory Services Project of INCOIS and carry out R & D related activities for developing and operationalisation of various fishery advisories, setting up of stock assessment models, satellite data processing, image analysis, etc...
• To work in various ocean colour applications under the Satellite And Coastal Oceanography Research (SATCORE) Project of INCOIS

Emoluments: consolidated monthly emoluments Rs.33,500/-.

02 Project Scientist –B 02 Essential Qualification:
A First Class M.Sc./ M.Tech. in Physical Oceanography, Physics, Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Ocean Technology from a recognized university / institute.

Desirable :
Experience in numerical/hydrodynamic ocean/atmospheric/climate modeling or experience in analysis of oceanographic meteorology data and working experience with Fortran programming language and data analysis packages such as Ferret/Matlab/GrADS etc...

Responsibilities :
To Work on setting up and operationalisation of various numericals models and collection and analysis of various data sets,validation of ocean models with in-situ and satellite measurements,etc.

Emoluments: consolidated monthly emoluments Rs.33,500/-.

03 Project Scientist –B 01 Essential Qualification:
A First Class B.E./B.Tech/ M.Sc./ MCA in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering from a recognized university/institute.

Desirable :
Working Experience in the field of Windows / Linux Administration, IT Infrastructure Services and Computer Networking. Candidates with certification in Networking and Windows / Linux Administration are preferred.

Responsibilities :
To assist in the IT Planning & Implementation for various projects, administer Windows / Linux Systems, maintain campus wide computer networking including maintenance of leased line circuits, etc.

Emoluments: consolidated monthly emoluments Rs.33,500/-.

04 Research Assistant 02 Essential Qualification:
A first class M.Sc./ M.Tech. in Physical Oceanography / Meteorology / Physics/ Atmospheric Sciences / Ocean Technology.

Desirable :
i) Knowledge in numerical modelling of ocean / atmosphere/ or experience in analysis of oceanography / meteorology data.
ii) Knowledge in Fortran /C programming language and data analysis packages such as Ferret/Matlab/GrADS etc.

Responsibilities :
To work in the project Ocean State Forecast of INCOIS that involves in setting up and operationalisation of various numerical models, collection and analysis of various data sets, etc.

Emoluments: i. Consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.15,600/- with Post Graduation
ii. Consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.18,200/- with Post Graduation + 2 years of relevant experience.

05 Research Assistant 01 Essential Qualification:
A first class M.Sc. in Marine Biology, Fisheries, Biological Oceanography or equivalent post graduation in fisheries or Marine Biology from a recognized university / institute.

Desirable :
Knowledge of tuna fisheries, computer programming skills, fishery data collation and analysis, etc.

Responsibilities :
To work in the Marine Fishery Advisory Services Project of INCOIS and carry out R & D related activities for developing and operationalisation of various fishery advisories, setting up of stock assessment models, satellite image processing and analysis, etc.

Emoluments: i. Consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.15,600/- with Post Graduation
ii. Consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.18,200/- with Post Graduation + 2 years of relevant experience.

06 Research Assistant 01 Essential Qualification:
A First Class M.Sc in Physical Oceanography, Physics, Meteorology,Mathematics,Computer Science from a recognized university/institute.

Desirable :
Knowledge in Fortan/C programming and data analysis packages such as Ferret/Matlab/GrADS, Origin, Surfer etc.

Responsibilities :
To work on Ocean data processing, Metadata generation, quality control, conversion from/to various formats, uploading them to database etc.

Emoluments: i. Consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.15,600/- with Post Graduation
ii. Consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.18,200/- with Post Graduation + 2 years of relevant experience.

07 Project Assistant 04 Essential Qualification:
A first class Bachelor’s Science degree in physics,Biology ,Fisheries, Geo-informatics, Remote sensing, Spatial information technology, Electronics or a diploma in engineering from a recognized university /institute.

Desirable :
Working knowledge in Erdas, Arc GIS, programming skills in Java, .NET, ArcGIS Macro Language, Matlab, FORTRAN.

Responsibilities :
i. To work in the Marine Fishery Advisory Services Project of INCOIS and carry out R & D related activities for developing and operationalisation of various fishery advisories, setting up of stock assessment models, satellite data processing, image analysis, etc.
ii. To work in the National Tsunami Early Warning Centre at INCOIS on 24x7 basis and other works assigned from time-to-time

Emoluments: consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.21,100/-.

08 Project Assistant 01 Essential Qualification:
A first class diploma in electronics / electrical engineering from a recognized university / institute.

Desirable :
Experience in field work including scientific cruise onboard boats and ships, working knowledge in Computer programming and skills in using software packages for data processing.

Responsibilities :
To undergo scientific cruise from time to time, deployment of Argo floats and moorings.

Emoluments: consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.21,100/-.

09 Project Assistant 01 Essential Qualification:
A first class Bachelors degree in Science with Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science as a main subject from any recognized university/institute.

Desirable :
Experience in data handling, processing, analysis, quality control and working in experience in C, Java programming and data analysis packages like, Origin, Surfer etc.

Responsibilities :
To carry out routine activities related to time series data from Moored buoys, generation of data status reports, communicating with the originating agencies etc.

Emoluments: consolidated monthly emoluments of Rs.21,100/-.

General Conditions


• Selected candidates are required to work in shift duties, if assigned and also to participate in various field programmes on board research vessels, fishing boats, etc or any other works assigned to him/her from time-to-time by Director, INCOIS / Group Head / Scientist In-charges.
• The posts are temporary in nature and are initially for a period of two years and further extension will be based on the project requirements and performance of the candidates
• The candidate's age should not exceed the age limit mentioned above as on April 01, 2011. However, relaxation in age limit (up to a maximum of 05 years) would be considered to the candidates with prior experience in the relevant fields/ Ph.D. /working in Government Services.
• Candidates who are already employed in government/public sector/autonomous undertakings should forward their applications through proper channel. However, they may send advance copies.
• Candidates should submit separate application for each post.
